Being able to open and play SWF files has nothing to do with your web browser. Try install GNU Gnash, a free flash player, by running the following:

# apt-get install gnash

You should then be able to open SWF files using Gnash.

Which version of Iceweasel are you using? I am using 38.7.1esr-1~deb8u1, and I can watch YouTube videos without Flash. I would recommend uninstalling your Flash plugin, so that it does not interfere with YouTube's HTML5 video player.
