After system boot screen goes blank -- [DEBIAN 8 without GNOME]

Am trying to upgrade my debian 6 system with debian 8. On the process, am encountering certain issues.
Trail 1:
1. Full debian installation (GNOME):
After installing full Debian with GNOME* (testing purpose) , the system froze during boot @ "Please wait while loading". Just went through many forums and added "nolapic" in kernel parameters which made my system boot as expected.

After booting in successfully, was able to login to system and test our propitiatory application (GTK based) and it worked. *For production system we generally do not install GNOME. We prefer "ICEWM" with startx.

2. Debian installation without GNOME:
To prepare our production system, we installed Debian 8 without GNOME, After installation , Added same "nolapic" in kernel parameters to start booting process. But , this time saw all boot messages in screen and suddenly the display went blank. However, it has been noticed the keyboard was still functional. so, we are sure it is not an kernel panic
($) used CTRL + ALT + DEL to reboot the system

*Need guidance in addressing the issue.
