Yes, the extra forward slash was there (indicating a directory)..interesting. Anyway. I removed the now offending symbol. Thanks for this information.

I replaced 'auto' in the fstab line with 'nofail.' Thanks for this reminder.
I will test out the new configuration tomorrow. If you don't hear from me again it worked.
