AFAIK, it doesn't.
It does require graphics handling, though.
One of the libraries it uses for that relies on an SDL library.
That SDL library in turn relies on an audio library, since SDL isn't
just graphics.
All very reasonable, at each step. I'm not sure I see much problem with
it in practice, either...
