Take a look at x2go. http://www.x2go.org/
The client is in Debian, the server is not. Reason is code duplication
(it's NX based).
There are clients for Linux/Windows/Mac.
It does not work with Gnome3 in 3D mode on Wheezy.
There is an active community.
