Yes! I know what you mean. My daily driver often has situations where
cables get caught when the DVD drive closes. Ugh!

In the case of the Mastercooler HAF912 case, they've done some stuff to
partially ameliorate the situation. First, consider the situations where
you'd use the front USB/audio. They would be temporary stuff you plug
and unplug, not permanent stuff that gets plugged in the back. With USB,
mouse dongles and thumb drives have nothing to hang down. With spinning
USB drives, that top thing has a ridged area perfect for seating a 3.5"
drive, without interfering with the fan.

With the audio, if your box is on the floor, the cable comes up to your
headphones, not down to cover the DVD. If your computer is on the desk,
hangdown is absolutely a problem.
