Well, hope you're not on the team making the decision. LOL
Seriously Gnome-Shell is quite mature now and with extensions can be
made to behave pretty much like an old desktop shell.
Anyway to each their own - besides with systemd the default init, it
makes sense to have Gnome-Shell the default.
