Bismillemacs al rahman al rahim!
Having heard your confession and according to Saint ingnucius wisdom
(Using a free version of vi is not a sin but a penance) you will run
four editing session with a free implementation of vi.
Jokes (almost) over.
In 1999, during a Pluto meeting in Padova, Ettore Perazzoli was
explaining how Gnome was evolving, and one of the objections was
indeed that the roadmap was going towards Windows. I still feel that I
don't need 90% of the things a DE offers as "indispensable".
That does not mean that I am against graphic output. Ralf's sound
samples and my graphs and icons are graphical objects. With you can
have several terminals and copy and paste text among each other.
What I don't like is the position "You MUST use this" or "This is
modern=>good, that is old=>obsolete" (and running daemons that you
don't need, of course).
Uh, I forgot: I use at least 3 programs with GTK interface: Emacs,
Eclipse[*], The Gimp.
