Coincidentally, this idea cropped up yesterday in another post to -user:

It is far less convenient than booting from an isohybrid and only works
with a netinst ISO if the user is prepared to jump through a number of
small diameter hoops and coerce d-i into co-operating.

A netboot mini.iso will work easily (no CD ROM is mounted) and, knowing
the magic incantation for the 'linux' line, so will a Live CD.
