I'll flip the OP's question around. Is there a more appropriate place than http://wiki.debian.org/ certain types of information of long term interest?
As a personal example, I'm collating information I've received from this list (and others) that would be useful to "Linux newbies" and/or those wishing for a small install on a isolated system without networking. I visualize something similar some pages on the Tcl/Tk Wiki such as http://wiki.tcl.tk/1961 {a random page accessed for the first time this morning}. Key features to note are its brevity and contributions span a decade and several authors.
