Thanks for the link, I followed it and built the .htpasswd .htaccess

Ha ... not works as I expected. is it due to

# AllowOverride controls what directives may be placed in .htaccess files.
# It can be "All", "None", or any combination of the keywords:
#   Options FileInfo AuthConfig Limit
#
    AllowOverride None

in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf ?
