Moin, '/bin/afio' is another interesting tool compared to 'tar', though it might not compress better. It's main advantage is: It compresses each file separately and then adds it to the archive. This means that a data corruption will only cause data losses of the files affected, but won't render the whole archive useless. regards Wilko --
