Try splix.

My previous experience with splix, is not good.
From memory, I tried splix with the first CLX-3185FW (it died a few
months ago, just before the Debian 5 workstation died, from memory - we
have an unsafe electricity supply in this state), as Debian 5 did not
have the drivers, but splix did not work, and I had a problem with the
splix contact, so I used the manufacturer's software, downloaded from
the manufacturer's web site. But, that worked with Debian 5, and, not
with Debian 6. My wife's Samsung CLX-3175 seems to work okay with Debian
6, and she had used her CLX-3175 with Ubuntu (she gave up on Ubuntu, due
to "power saving" problems that disabled her laptop computer so it would
not restart, every time that she left it), and when I got her to switch
to Debian 6, instead of her having to use the Samsung manufacturer's
software, Debian 6 automatically installed its own printer and scanner
software, which sem to be working okay.
As the Debian 5 and 6 included printer drivers, do not include the
driver(s) for the Samaung CLX-3185FW, I have had to use the Samsung
manufacturer's software, but the Samsung manufacturer's software is
incompatible with Debian 6, leading to a possible new classification for
printer compatibility with Linux; "doorstop". At about 18" cubed, and,
with its weight, it is a bit big for use as a "paperweight".
