Good Luck.
I agree with this, assumed that

- there should be a bootable DVD drive available
- there shouldn't be issues with downloads
- the architecture should be 32bit instead of 64bit
The DVD download is much larger than the various CD installers. All that
it gives you is a larger repository of software that will shortly be
obsolete. Downloading a CD image will more likely be trouble free just
because there is less time for something to go wrong.

The architecture downloaded should match your machine. If you have a
64bit computer, don't cripple it with a 32bit kernel.
A net install needs an Internet connection. To get an Internet
connection can become a PITA. We already don't know, if simply
downloading a CD is that easy for the OP.
I can't comment on your experience but I've done this using all kinds of Internet connections. Obviously, I wouldn't recommend it over dial-up, but then I wouldn't recommend downloading a full CD dial-up either.

Very few people have trouble with Internet connections anymore. Even ADSL usually has the router built into the modem so it's pretty much plug in and go. Interestingly, I've even had the installer work while the installed system had a problem.
