I'm not completely sure about that assertion. I would not expect a "fsck" 
for a volume that is misplaced in the fstab.

No, it can happen arbitrarily on every boot.

UUID is used precisely to avoid such scenario (the UUID could change only 
if you are reinstalling the system or formatting the drive).
