By the way, the image is produced by vector graphical software
which can emit PS and PCL. The PS has unacceptable defects;
two or three different widths of dimension line on one drawing
for example. If this Vinci language is really worth its salt, the
right solution is a Vinci -> PS or Vinci -> PNG translator. But
that won't help immediate needs. So I am trying the PCL.

HP invented PCL for transmitting an image from a
computer to a printer.

mentions compression in PCL 6. It might serve for storing
images but I don't know of any such usage.
