and I compare it to mine on Sid:

   network http
   network lpd
   file cups-pdf:/
   network ipp
   network https
   network ipps
   network socket
   direct scsi
   direct parallel:/dev/lp0

you can see you do not have 'direct parallel:/dev/lp0', which explains
why CUPS doesn't see your printer (I think). But why is it missing?

What is the output of

   ls -l /usr/lib/cups/backend ?
