Mmm... okay, so I was in the right path...

Note there's a slightly difference between the URL you send:

And mine:

Look like the same but they're not ;-)

Ah, let's see... I see nothing but gibberish (well, 2e18 and 2e2e render 
fine)

You did not specify what unicode character you wanted to get, sir, and my 
crystal ball was having a rest so I had to make a wild guess.

I picked up one randomly.

See the above link. There's a list of fonts that seem to have support for 
the said unicode characters. You can grab more information for other 
unicode characters from that same site, for instance:

Mmm, I have tried with DejaVu Sans inside OOo Writer and it does not 
work, it renders a square symbol :-?
