I am using Debian Testing, my mp3 player mounts but i can't transfer
any file to it, because i don't have permission to add any files. How
do I fix this, so i have permission as a user to add file to usb
devices.
It should be "automagically" done.
Attach the USB device, open a terminal and run "mount", then put here
the
johnny@xxxxxx:~$ mount
(...)
/dev/sdc on /media/usb0 type vfat (rw,noexec,nodev,sync,noatime,nodiratime)
It should be this one, right?
Yep, I don't see the "uid=" parameter that should be set so the mass
storage device files formatted with fat are owned by the user who mounts
it :-?
Look, these are the parameters I get when I plug my USB key:
(rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=hal,shortname=lower,uid=1000)
Just to be sure... run:
ls -la /media/usb0
And send us the result (you can omit/hide sensitive filenames, if any :-P).
