You have likely fingered the problem. Yes, I have, as you call it, a
"vanity" e-mail address using the "name" TLD. I pay about CA$30 a year
for it; I got it because I have had occasions in the past where it was
necessary to change my ISP. By having my e-mail forwarded from
ken@heard.name to the e-mail address assigned to me by my current ISP I
do not have to inform my correspondents of a change of e-mail address
every time I change ISP.
My current "normal" ISP is teksavvy.com, the best of the Canadian
independents. Obviously I use that one when I am home in Canada, and
anywhere else I may be in the world with my trusty laptop where I can go
on line on a daily basis at the least.
If however I go somewhere without my laptop and consequently without a
virtually continuous on line connection, I need to use an ISP which
allows enough storage capacity to keep all incoming emails until I
return home.
Now is such an occasion. I will be traveling in India for the next two
weeks without the laptop. Since teksavvy.com does not have the storage
capacity for all the incoming emails I will likely receive in those two
weeks, in such situations I have my email forwarded to my gmail account.
So, I think it best to leave this matter in abayence until I return home
and to my teksavvy.com ISP. It also has now occurred to me that this
problem did not -- I think -- occur when at home and using my desktop
with teksavvy. At the moment my desktop is half a world away. It is in
Toronto; whereas I have been near Bangkok with my laptop since mid-January.
I am nevertheless grateful for your attention to my problem; it was your
last post in particular which put me on what I hope is the right track.
On my return to Toronto in mid-April I will report further.
Regards, Ken
