At least is detected by the system.

Have you configured the network adapter? Do you use a DHCP server to get 
the adapter data? What does "/etc/network/interfaces" looks like? How 
about the logs (dmesg | grep eth0)?

Maybe you just need a firmware or load the correct module :-?
