Sounds like udev is renaming your ethernet device. Take a look at:
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
Delete all the lines except for the one for eth0. Or you could try
moving that file elsewhere and reboot.
If that doesn't work, uninstall dhclient and install another DHCP
client like pump.
