Freezing in GIMP

Twice today while doing some minor editing in GIMP my whole system
froze to the point where I had to do the ctrl-alt-sysreq thing.
Nothing else was running.
Anybody else experience this ???
Gnome/testing under an 1386 GIMP 2.66 , Gnome 2.24.3
