Okay, I will try that.

Also, perhaps I wasn't clear. What I meant was that sometimes when core
libraries are upgraded, I get an ncurses interface which warns that some
services need to be restarted. Commonly listed ones are gdm and ssh. But
I now see that that is not calling checkrestart since it is not even
installed on my system. To get that I need debian-goodies package.
