I don't deny that there is a very good reason *not* to use Gmail. I do
often feel a bit queasy for using it, and I sometimes contemplate
switching. My point was merely a retort to the OP's comment that he
"[doesn't] see a reason to use gmail if you don't use the web
interface." He obviously isn't concerned the privacy issue you
mention, and he does indeed use Gmail.
