Some years ago, I had written a message to the <mutt-users> and I
suggested to comment out the manual and rename it to muttrc like
zcat /usr/share/doc/mutt/manual.txt |sed 's|^|# |g' >~/.muttrc
and then uncomment one option after one... And Yes, it is then a VERY
HUGE config, but you have ANY Notes and comment in it but you have all
together. This Tip helped many new users...
Note: "set folder=..." should be at the very first begining
