Very strange, mine is that even if I have a mounted disk, there is no
link in /dev/disk/by-id:

$ mount | grep dvd
/dev/scd2 on /media/dvd type udf (ro,nosuid,nodev,utf8)

$ ls /dev/disk/by-id/ | grep -v Maxtor | wc -l
0

$ ls /dev/disk/by-id/ | wc -l
32

Very strange. Anyone can explain?

Thanks
