Let's see. The specialty buttons only started working in the last few 
kernel/udev versions. I still cannot make the TV- and VGA-out work, but 
that's not important to me. The audio volume buttons have never and will 
never work, I expect.

The ieee1394, MemoryStick, PCMCIA, serial/parallel and DVD worked out of the 
box perfectly well. The non-free Nvidia driver has always worked, and drives 
the 3D acceleration just fine.

The DVD drive has turned out to be fragile, I've replaced it half a dozen 
times. Sony is like that, beautiful hardware that just doesn't last very 
well.

Once I found how to clean the cooling fins and fans, at least I didn't have to 
send it in for repair for normal use. I _HATE_ that! Laptops that cannot be 
cleaned. ARGH!
