I haven't seen anyone mention this yet: unless you're running
"ifconfig -a", interfaces that are unconfigured won't show up in the
output. It would be interesting to see what the output of that command
is (it'll indicate which interfaces the kernel knows about, as opposed
to which ones network-manager has set up).
