[OT] Sid + 2.6.23.1 + ck

Hi,

2.6.23.1 is stable now.

There is a remade ck patch for the 2.6.23 kernel (because Con Kolivas left after 2.6.22-ck1):
http://kamikaze.waninkoko.info/patches/2.6.23/kamikaze2/broken-out/ckpatches-2.6.23.patch
that was published on the ck-list.
I applied it to 2.6.23.1 and it fits with offsets.

Booting that system with Sid and the kernel .config of 2.6.22-2-k7 there appear to be no great problems. However:

1. the nvidia 9631 driver that I use now fails to compile and this patch needs to be applied:
http://home.hiwaay.net/~craigg/linux/NV_patch.html
that is discussed in the forum:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1416979#post1416979
After that patch running the installer creates the module OK.

2. I get funny errors:
...

but the only effect I can see is that my two usb mice changed events: from 3 to 5 and from 4 to 6. After I made those changes to xorg.conf, X came up with my two videocard/monitors/kbds/mice.

3. Vmware server would not recompile either and I had to apply a patch via:
http://communities.vmware.com/thread/107414
and
http://www.howtoforge.com/the_perfect_desktop_slackware12_p11?s=80fb4b36921117b17a0c39e957458e68&;
and the patch referred to is vmware-any-any-update113.tar.gz at:
http://knihovny.cvut.cz/ftp/pub/vmware/
Once applied per described procedure (within the failing install) vmware compiles OK. And starts OK.

Stay tuned.
