Hi
Question for deb-user. I look after the IT side of things for a friends
business, right now they have 3 pc running windows XP - has to be, the main
client app is Access - VBA.
They have 1 server which is running debian + vmware, I have Windows 2000 server
installed in VMware and I am using AD, with the three machines part of the
domain. I have create a mandatory, locked profile for each of the users with a
cut down menu list and limited access to drives letters etc..... The server is
also used for printing and file sharing
I am about to replace the server with a openwrt router/firewall to handle the
adsl and firewall etc and another server with debian, my easy path is to
install vmware and move the files across.
But I would like to use samba instead, the userid I would move across to
openldap (re create - not use the ad info), I am pretty sure I can get samba to
talk to ldap for authentication.
I really want the lock profiles and menu's it this easy to do and manage under
samba ? Am I going to be creating a lot of pain for myself.
Alex
