I found google searches can often be very helpful, but got too much useless info following your suggestion this time.
I keep two Debians (sometimes also Suse etc. as well) on my laptop, all sharing common DATA partition in addition of full backups on a BKUP mini-boot-RIP partition). As a retired programmer I learned: trust no-one, especially oneself.
