No. You'd have to "ping email-server.ucwv.edu". Your're trying to send
e-mail to that, not to ucwv.edu. Otherwise just change the address to
"username@ucwv.edu" and try to mail again.

$ mail username@ucwv.edu
Subject:
etc.
.
