Since upgrading to the latest kernel 2.6.18-1-k7 during an apt-get upgrade from Sid I have received the following message hat scrolls on my virtual terms and is logged in kern.log.

Any idea of a fix for this or what it means?

Nov 3 06:27:00 Dam-Main kernel: pci_set_power_state(): 0000:01:09.0: state=3, current state=5

Nov  3 10:58:38 Dam-Main last message repeated 120 times

Hmmm, reverted back to the 2.6.17-K7 kernel and now I am getting those messages on that kernel? Any takers on what it signifies?

Only six ref. found on Google, 5 of them is the same post of some other guy and the 6th is my post. The closes thing to an answer is"

"Watch for some userspace code playing with /sys/.../power/state." from http://www.ussg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0610.1/0434.html

Just searched "power" in synaptic I have acpid 1.0.4-5 (Sid sources here) arts 1.5.5-1, gnome-applets 2.14.3-1+b1, powerngnt-base 1.29 A few others, but clearly "joe" has nothing to do with setting power state. Any ideas how to track this down. Some piece of software has gone buggy and only about two guys have been affected (or know they are affected).
