RE: Debian support for Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet NIC?

Hi,

Wow, it's great that your Marvell NIC worked with Sarge right out of the box, but I'm not as lucky. Googling shows that a lot of people has similar problems as I do...

Well, my ASUS board is the P5GD2-X and uses the Marvell 88E8053 PCIe Gigabit LAN Controller. As I've previously mentioned, I'ved tried using the default module that comes with the 2.6.16.27 kernel as well as patching it the the driver from the Marvell site. I've also compiled it both into the kernel and as a module. I might give it one last try tonight before putting in a new NIC, but it doesn't look promising.

Thanks,
-Glen

Yes, I know I can check in the kernel config and see which NICs are listed in "Network device support", but then the Marvell Yukon NIC was listed there also, and THAT didn't work.

Hmmm, very strange. I have an Asus P4P8X SE with a marvell gigabit and it worked on sarge out of the box.

This install was done in May this year I believe.

According to Asus:
Marvell 88E8001 Gigabit Lan Controller

lspci:
0000:02:05.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. Yukon Gigabit Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T Adapter (rev 13)

However, the sky2 driver in a recent kernel worked almost well. (it only stoped working after suspend-to-disk).
