i ve tried this but i still have the same problem
i have a toshiba 2410-S203
i ve reboot on windows in order to test the hardware
it works perfectly on games...
but when i try to install windows last drivers from nvidia.com
the driver reports me that i have no nvidia card on it ?!

maybe it's an hardware problem that cause those freeze under linux with the
nvidia driver.

You didn't answer what happened when you stopped loading the apm module... For me that was the solution.
