How exactly did you download the file? What seems to have happened is
that the file got unzipped while downloading:
$ ls -l initrd*
-rw-r--r-- 1 ab ab 10645504 18. Nov 22:55 initrd
-rw-r--r-- 1 ab ab 3205673 18. Nov 22:54 initrd.gz
$ md5sum initrd*
ca838dff73b15963544ea21537ccaa8f initrd
250db6ab320fc5edcecf3ed9d1c185a6 initrd.gz
==> the md5sum of the uncompressed file is exactly what you have...
IOW, you've already got the right file -- you just need to gzip it again :)
