udev and kernel 2.6.8 after dist-upgrade
Hello
I am using GRUB 0.91 to load my box; I have windows on
hda1 and debian on hda2 and debian on hdb which has
several partitions.
After #apt-get dist-upgrade I am having some problems.
When I boot into hda2, I get the login prompt but
during the boot, I noticed the following 2 lines which
I need to fix.
Activating Swap failed!
Mounting local file system, failed!
When I log in with root and #startx
X: warning; process set to priority ?1 instead of
requested priority 0
Giving up.
Xinit: connection refused (errno 111); unable to
connect to X server
Xinit: no such process (errno 3): server error.
When I login with a user account $startx
Xinit: server error.
$
so I am also unable to startx.
#apt-get -f install (to fix dependency)
wants to install udev, and I was informed that udev
will not work with kernel 2.6.8 which I now have, I
need to get 2.6.12. what should I do in this case?
#apt-get -f install
...
udev requires a kernel >=2.6.12, upgrade aborted.
...
thanks
