Nearly unreadable fonts with native resolution (1280x800) of my notebook (new to Debian, need help)

Hi!

I have shortly installed Debian on my system (details of
my configuration see below). It is running (even
sound works).

After I have changed XF86Config-4 (see below), to be able
to use the native resolution of 1280x800 of my notebook
(which works), the fonts (which looked good with interpolated
resolution of 1024x768) are nearly unreadable, but not
because they are too small, but because there seems to
be a mixture of black and white (or grey) pixels.

Can I adjust anything?

I'm an owner of OS/2, so I have the wonderfully original
Adobe Type 1 fonts (real Times New Roman, Helvetica,
Courier, ...) which are looking better than the
corresponding TT-Fonts (Arial and so on). How can I
use them with Debian?

Thanks in Advance
Peter
