I wouldn't say its sad at all.
After all, you taken the time to master a text only agent and make it
do all its tricks. I came here from an amiga, where I ran a gui
agent called Thor, and Thor can still teach the linux email agents a
few tricks. One of them was that thor didn't care if it was a
newsgroup on a newsserver, or legit email from a pop server, it
handled both so interchangeably that you had to check the header to
see which it was. The only place it fell down was in filtering the
junk, it was written back in a time when junk mail or spam was only 5
to 10% of the days traffic.
Anyway, since I was already used to a gui agent, and kmail was the
only one that didn't crash if somebody miss-dotted an i, I started
using it. Balsa looked good, but often went away, as did several
others named after trees. In 7 years I can count on my available
digits the number of times kmail has truely crashed. Its often up
for the uptime of the machine, which isn't always that long because
I'm always building the next great kernel & rebooting to it.
2.6.12-rc2 at the instant. Its working great so far, day & a half
uptime.
