It might be me.. but, where is this leading to ?
If a questions is asked in such a way that people don't get it.. or can't follow, or have
a heck of a hard time understanding, then they have every right to comment on the the
question itself.
If that remark is taken in offence, don't even reply and wait for a respons that you might find
usefull. 
If that doesn't work, try and ask your question somewhere els, like.. a mozzila list/forum
that has a group of people that a most likely more then willing to help you on something
that regards your thunderbird issue.

Just a mail telling someone off is not something that is usefull and it won't get you anywhere,
but if you still feel like telling somebody off, do it somewhere els then on the list. Take him
on personally if you realy think that it might help. You don't need an audience for that.

Btw, try and include the mail with the part quoted that you are replying to.. it's your odd mail
that made me reply to this in the first place.
