This is a rather silly problem if I may say so. After haviong specified
to download messages for offline viewing you have to select for which
folders you want to have this behavior.
To do this right-click the folder and choose its properties, then go to
the 'offline' tab and select 'choose this folder for offline viewing'.
The actual configuration names are probably different from what I wrote
here because I've got a german localized version and was merely guessing
what they might be called in english.
