and its connected to a 100Mbit hub

Try 'mii-tool -v --force-media=100baseTx-FD eth0' and then check whether
the link has been negotiated. I think that the link was not established
due to capability mismatch.

I have tried this, but nothing happens... Here is what i did:

server:~# mii-tool -v --force=100baseTx-FD eth0
server:~# mii-tool -v
eth0: 10 Mbit, half duplex, no link
product info: vendor 00:00:00, model 0 rev 0
basic mode: 10 Mbit, half duplex
  basic status: no link

Very strange. I have tried a different port on the hub with no change to the above. BTW: All other servers are at 100base-Tx. Here is some more output:

server:~# mii-diag -a
Using the default interface 'eth0'.

 Basic mode status register 0x0000 ... 0000.
   Link status: not established.
Link partner information information is not exchanged when in fixed speed mode.
   End of basic transceiver informaion.

server:~# ethtool eth0

Any further help is greatfull.
