Hi Nayyar,
aot-get,dpkg and others download packages and then modify various
databases. If they allowed multiple read and writes, the result would be
a corrupted database and a messed up system. 
OTOH, it is possible to download more than one package at a time but you
can only install 1 application at a time (along with its dependencies).
