I do exactly as in Steve Smith's howto:
http://incubator.vislab.usyd.edu.au/roller/page/Steve/20040909

Changing driver to kbd doesn't work.

And logs from Xorg.0.log:

(**) Option "CoreKeyboard"
(**) Generic Keyboard: Core Keyboard
(**) Option "Protocol" "standard"
(**) Generic Keyboard: Protocol: standard
(**) Option "AutoRepeat" "500 30"
(**) Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
(**) Generic Keyboard: XkbRules: "xorg"
(**) Option "XkbModel" "pc105"
(**) Generic Keyboard: XkbModel: "pc105"
(**) Option "XkbLayout" "pl"
(**) Generic Keyboard: XkbLayout: "pl"
(**) Option "CustomKeycodes" "off"
(**) Generic Keyboard: CustomKeycodes disabled
[...]
(II) XINPUT: Adding extended input device "Generic Keyboard" (type:
KEYBOARD)
(EE) Couldn't load XKB keymap, falling back to pre-XKB keymap

And it seems, that KDE looks only in /etc/X11/xkb, not in
/usr/local/X11R6.8 where X server is installed.
