You are not alone. Check out the bug tracking system at bugs.debian.org.
Specifically, check out
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=268892. You'll save
yourself some headaches if you get into the habit of checking the bug
tracking system before you upgrade.
