SOLVED: Replicating Debian Systems

Just to close this out for anyone doing searches in the list archive:

Beta 4 has the E1000 drivers in it, and they are perfectly recognized 
and configured :)

(And yes, of course Bob is right below in that the kernel version has a 
lot to do with it -- the Beta 4 distribution packaged with Sarge as of 
May 23, 2004 has the lastest 2.4 kernels as well as 2.6.5 and 2.6.3 for 
i386 and various other platforms).
