Not with sarge or 2.6, sorry, but I simply do:
pointer = 3 2 1
in my ~/.xmodmap (which is read by ~/.xsession or ~/.xinitrc). This
is with a three button, Logitech ps/2 mouse.
Sorry if this doesn't help. ps/2 != usb, I know.
