You can add backports.org to your sources.list. I have something like
this to install linux-2.6.x on my woody system (Debian 3.0)

deb http://mirror.raw.no/backports.org/debian stable kernel-2.6

Go to backports.org to find a local mirror for your location.

You will be needing almost everything that is in the kernel-2.6
directory to install linux v2.6.x.
