Re: Integrated video and audio-OK for Linux?

Is it a given that if a computer's motherboard has integrated audio and video that it is unsuited for Linux unless audio and video cards are installed?

No. It depends what chipsets are on the motherboard.

Would running a KNOPPIX CD be a reliable test?

Yes. Although if it doesn't work straight away, it may not mean
necessarily that you can't get it to work under linux. But it would be
a quick n' easy way to find out how many of the devices work straight
out of the box.

Is there a website that discusses this topic?

Lots. The LinuxQuestions Hardware Compatibility list is fast becoming a
useful resource: http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/

Cheers,
